i was looking through the 'today's favorites' page, and was disappointed to find such i high percentage of pretty things. i prefer passionate art, even if it's ugly. i actually think there can be more passion in art that is disturbing and ugly. it seems more raw. you can take a picture of a pretty person and capture no part of that person's being, and still have a pretty picture. i'd rather have a moving picture of an ugly person. at some point, i should be able to connect with the individual being photographed. prettyness gets in the way. i guess that's one of the reasons i like the line drawing of myself so much. (me) is ugly, i wouldn't put it on a wall. but it seems to convey more emotion that a pretty face.
